We're hiring an experienced Ecologist to join our team in Cork:
What you'll be doing:
- Working with the existing team on ecological and environmental aspects on a diverse range of projects.
- Preparation of Screening for Appropriate Assessment and Natura Impact Statement reports.
- Preparation of Ecological Impact Assessments reports, Invasive species surveys and Management Plans.
- Undertaking field work including surveys, visual assessments and ecological site walkovers.
- Liaising and co-ordinating with clients and sub-contractors through various stages of a project.
What we're looking for:
- A hard working and motivated individual with good interpersonal skills and team approach.
- A proven track record of working on and delivering Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment processes is required.
- Demonstrated field survey experience in ecology in Ireland,e.g. habitat classification (Fossitt), bat, bird, tree, and invasive species surveys.
- Familiar with relevant Irish and European legislation e.g. Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive, and transposing Irish Regulations.
- Ability to record and process data efficiently and methodically.
What we require:
- Certified qualification in ecology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 4 years work experience in a similar role would be beneficial.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong report writing skills and excellent attention to detail is required.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Membership of a recognised environmental professional body such as CIEEM would be an advantage.
- Be willing to work in the field as well as office based.
- Some travel throughout Ireland and occasional overnights away from home.
- Strong IT skills.
- Experience with GIS software such as AutoCad Map3D or QGIS an advantage.
- Full clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
